So yesterday, I was cheerfully tapping away at a blog post when the browser decided to eat it. *wrinkles nose*. And I was just getting into the zone, too! So now, I'm going to try again, only this time using a proper text editor and hard-coding the bits of HTML that will hopefully lend some formatting to the post. I'm typing this with my keyboard on my lap while I sit cross-legged in my computer chair. I've set the chair up so that it tilts at just the right angle, and thus allows me to relax. The keyboard is wobbling a wee bit, but nothing that I can't live with. It's quite comfortable, really!
Yesterday. Yesterday was a busy day. Woke up at around eight. Got the coin jar and set about sorting, counting, and bagging the loose change that I've accumulated over the past month or two. Discovered that I had saved up a tidy amount! The bank teller didn't raise much of a fuss about having to deal with bags of loose change early in the banking day; and I also handed in a request form for two checkbooks.
My bank branch is scheduled for renovation in July. Half the staff will be reassigned to Pasong Tamo Extension, and the other half will be at Net One. In like manner, the functions of the branch are divided between the two locations. Am rather hoping that the charm of the original branch's interior will not be turned into a bright, cubicle-type modern vibe. Right now, walking into the branch is like walking into a small room at a hacienda - red tile flooring, wood detailing, cool in the summer and solid in the monsoon season. I don't mind the modern vibe in other branches - but I'd miss the old atmosphere if it was replaced by flourescent lighting and cubes.
The maintenance crew dropped by for their check before I left the house, and that was a nice bit of timing. I also remembered to prepare the check for the water delivery and give it to the maid, which allowed me to leave the house with a clear conscience. :)
From there, Ramon and I went to Glorietta. We visited National Bookstore (the original branch) in a vain effort to find a book about arthritis written by Peter D'Adamo. It was out of stock. However, on the suggestion of the customer service lady, I did take a look at where they shelved his books, and wound up buying his "Eat Right 4 Your Type" book instead. The theory is interesting, in that one's diet should conform to the special needs of your blood type. So a Type O (universal donor, like me) has different dietary requirements from a Type AB or B.
Photocopied a number of documents downstairs, then it was off to lunch at JiPan. I like the place - we ate in the "al fresco" section in the hallway (where there is no cellphone signal!!). For the price and the taste, you get a very good deal on the set meals and the bento boxes.
Then we went to the National Bookstore in Glorietta 5, by way of Rustan's. Nearly froze to the bone while walking through the men's section, managed to escape all the parfumerie people on the main floor, and down via escalator to the supermarket entrance, which opens exactly in front of a G5 entrance. No luck at that branch of NBS either; since we exited at the second floor, I announced to Ramon that maybe I would check out Dreams. But then when we turned the corner, I realized we were one floor down, and decided to go down instead.
Ramon then put his hand on my brow and said, "Darling, you must be running a fever..." *loves on hubby*
And then I saw the notions store of Carolina's! They separated the notions from the fabrics, and so I had to go in and get myself two balls of a pink/white colorway by Anchor, and three balls of a pretty turquoise dark green by Monaco. Still looking for a project, though.
A thought occurred to me while I was looking at all the pretty fabrics in the stores - I wish I knew where to find our former dressmaker, or if she's still in business. When I was younger, quite a few of my clothes were bespoke, and for all that it's probably not a common sight in other countries, here in Manila, it's not hard to spot dressmaker's shops. I love my off-the-rack clothes, mind you. It's just that sometimes I spot a delicious fabric in a store, and I know just how it would look in my head - all I need is someone to translate it into reality.
Our last stop was SM Makati. Had my T700 checked, and it's not a software problem but a hardware one, according to the tech guy. Will need to visit the service center and see how much it would cost to get it fixed, and how long it would take. Question: invest in a spare phone? As in, really cheap spare phone while real phone is in service? Or just leave the phone in permanent mute/vibra mode for a while? Mrmph.
Ramon raided the fruit section of the salad bar in the Concourse, and we had a nice merienda. Popped into the supermarket for kibble and cat food pouches and other stuff like carabao milk for Ma, Australian cream cheese, Good Morning all purpose towels.
Then home. Dropped down for a nap once everything had gotten squared away, and then life pretty much as normal after that. Which brings this entry full circle, and now I'm off to check Twitter, see how much I can catch up with before I do something else this afternoon. Ciao!

We have a world boxing champion by the name of Manny Pacquiao. He is scheduled to fight a guy named Hatton in Las Vegas for an obscene amount of money (USD20 million) if he wins.
This is a normal thing in the sports world. And of course, the entire country wants him to win. Also normal. Heck, I am so hoping he wins, it would be so embarrassing after all the publicity if he didn't!
What sets my blood on the boil are the headlines in today's papers saying that a good number of government officials are planning to junket to Las Vegas to watch the fight. About 49 of them, if I remember the headlines correctly.
W. T. F.
*insert scree of indignation*
WHY? They aren't needed to give moral support to the man - at least half won't even get on TV, after the fight, for the love of all that is good! Even if they're using their own money, they should be spending the time on behalf of their constituents.
And don't think they'll be staying at a Days, either. Oh, no. They'll probably be off at the Bellagio or something similar.
Augh. I'll stop here. It was nice to vent, though. Now to continue with catching up with my online life.

*chuckle* I think the last time I checked in, I was going to lay my head down for a little bit. Famous last words...I slept like an entire logjam for more than an hour, and woke up just in time for dinner call. After dinner, I decided to do a little room make-over, since it was time to put fresh linens on the bed anyway. Which is how I worked off dinner - I moved storage units and cubes in such a way that now, the bed is nearly flush against the far wall with the windows, and all the storage against that wall has been arranged to form a sort of fence between the foot of the bed and the dresser.
Pictures shall be forthcoming. As it is, the "flow" in the room feels more comfortable now. I can move around with stubbing my toes on anything; it's never a bad thing when cabinet doors beside your bed can actually open up so you can reach in them without breaking your neck or back.
There is now the matter of re-arranging the contents of the cabinets yet *again*, but that's a story for another day. For now, I am satisfied, the room seems to have opened up, or at least the storage setup seems more rational somehow. Ma isn't going to like it much, but then, it's not the master bedroom, and it at least looks neater and easier to clean.
Which reminds me that I've uncovered some corners that really need cleaning. *wrinkles nose*
Am all caught up with Twitter. It went all the way back to 17 hours, which surprised me, since it only used to go back 16 hours before.
So...I didn't count and bag the loose change I meant to deposit tomorrow. Oops? Maybe tomorrow morning. No sense in going to the bank really early, since we're heading to the mall after, and that doesn't open till 10AM.
So now I get to chill. *grin* Time to fire up the twhirl, and install the new Facebook AIR app. That signature line from "Brokeback Mountain" is actually quite apt for my attitude towards Facebook, but what the heck. It's there, and my system for dealing with it works. *shrug*
So off I go. Catch you whenever, then!
*yawn* feeling pleasantly sleepy after tea and a quick shower. I've caught up with all the online socializing except Twitter. I think I will have a little lie-down for a while, come to think of it. Catch you later!
Tried something last night - I sprayed the aromatherapy linen spray *onto my night shirt* instead of on the pillow. Whoa baybee, did I go out like a light! Not that I wasn't already pre-disposed to do so, I was yawning so much when I signed off at midnight. *grin*
What is going on with Mexico, I ask you? Drug wars, swine flu, and now a bloody EARTHQUAKE. 5.6 on the Richter, apparently, but still...! Enough already. The swine flu is putting a new spin on that phrase "the gift that keeps on giving", the poor country doesn't need any more aggravation.
Started the morning nice and early. Finished up Dad's laundry and my bed linens - the last load is in the machine now. The weather is still in its schizoid phase, as it started cloudy, went into watery sunlight, poured rain, and now it's back to watery sunlight again. All in the space of three hours, hoyay!
Edited the draft of a letter to the National Historical Institute. All my unused skills in writing solicitation letters for corporate entities suddenly came back, like getting back on a bike after a very long time. Draft has been sent out for approval by the powers, so I can feel virtuous.
*looks out the window* Mm-hm. Sunshine situation seems to be improving. This bodes fairly well for the white clothes on the line.
