A Twitter friend of mine was manning a booth at a Christmas bazaar with all manner of bizarre remixes in the background, to wit:
Umbrella mixed with Angels We Have Heard On High
Low mixed with Jingle Bells
Just Dance mixed with Away In A Manger
Womanizer mixed with Deck The Halls
Boom Boom Pow mixed with Silent Night (I DON'T EVEN KNOW, BB.)
Single Ladies mixed with Jingle Bells
Jai Ho mixed with O Come All Ye Faithful
Poker Face mixed with Away In A Manger
@_____@ And these are actual tracks on an actual CD, says the Twitter friend, hand on his heart for realz. He has my total sympathy for making it through the day against that kind of background music.

Despite the overcast weather, I ran the parental laundry. So the management of loading the machine punctuated most of my morning.
As hoped for, I managed to sleep in this morning. Woke up at around 8.30am, which is pretty much the definition of "sleeping in", as the day usually begins at 5.30am with the opening of the house gates and the breakfast rush of the cats. Ramon usually takes care of this part, comes back to the room about 6am, watches a little of the early news, nibbles a little something, then goes back to sleep till 9am.
So when I get up, I make the bed (Ramon sleeps in the rocking chair now), wash face, tidy up some stuff, have breakfast, start laundry if it's a laundry day. Look through whatever backlog there is of papers and things to do. Take a bath. Say good morning to Ma if she's up; open her venetian blinds just so.
Managed to get through e-mail, feedly and LiveJournal before lunch. Set up Transmission to download torrents while the family had lunch. Watched TV with the parents, had coffee, then once the last load went into the machine, I lay down for a nap. There is something about cold weather that promotes sleep, I don't know what it is. But whatever it is, I had a good sleep, and feel a whole lot more human now.
What else...I took my Canon D-SLR out of its case and gave it a test run. Am planning to take it with me when the family runs up to Tagaytay on Christmas Day, as the Southern Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and the Skyway will be toll-free on that day and on New Year's Day. Took some pictures of Pebbles-kitten with the Aiptek, for uploading at some point in time.
Technical House picked up the pancit malabon and the soft drinks that are our annual donation to their Christmas party. Amber's did not let me down this time, and delivered the pancit at 12nn, well before the scheduled 1pm deadline. Hmmm...am thinking yesterday's late delivery may have had something to do with a deluge of orders coming in. After all, it *was* Friday night. But as Ma said, the food arrived in time to be eaten, and there an end. The White Forest cake is all gone, and tomorrow I'll buy a cake for the parental anniversary on the 22nd. Home-made pancit this time, with liver and Chinese sausage and all the fixings that can be had. Chicharo (snow peas), if there's any to be had for the pancit, and shrimp. Arce Ice Cream, definitely!
Am planning to get out of the house as early as possible tomorrow, so that we can get back early for Rose to cook the pancit in time for dinner. We have to swing by Mercury for Ramon's medicines first, so getting out by at least 8.30am would be a lovely thing. *meep*
Such is a normal holiday day at chez moi.
- 22:12:37: Today was my 18th wedding anniversary. :) It was spent enjoying mundane stuff, and we are content, supremely so.
- 22:36:26: thanks for all the congratulations, everyone! (if i name you all, there won't be room left for the tweet! *grin*)
- 23:40:12: *listens* I hear fireworks. That means (a) a party, (b) someone testing their stash before New Year, (c) a special display somewhere.
- 23:45:43: Whoa, that sounded awfully close. Ever since the coup attempts of the late '80s, I get wary at the sound of explosions in the night.

Well, seeing as it's 12.06am...
Yesterday, the 18th, Ramon and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. Geez, but the time flies when you're living, is all I can say. *grin*
Spent the day doing what we normally do when we're out of the house. Went to Mercury Drug to pick up medicines for the parents, both of whom are under the weather. Dad's cough is worse than Ma's, though he has moved from the expulsion of gunk stage to a drier sort of cough now. He *would* go and attend Misa de Gallo in his condition, but what can a daughter do? *sigh* Ma isn't so bad. She had the good sense to medicate at the first sign of something wrong, and has been taking care not to expose herself to any more germs/bacteria than necessary. Still, the sound of coughs in the night does make for a certain amount of concern.
Ramon, so far, is doing well. *crosses fingers*
At Mercury Drug, I had my eyes checked at Vision Express, and bought new contacts; they were running a "buy 2, get 1 free" promo, so I had to buy an extra box to make it come out even. Ran into my delightful goddaughter in the hallway in front of Marks & Spencer (or Marks & Sparks, as I like to call it), then we had lunch at the Glorietta Food Court. Then Rustan's after that, to pick up some groceries and the Christmas ham from Majestic. Also bought scrap ham and a ham bone for the makings of soups and other delicious things.
Then home. Dinner was a sumptuous affair: Amber's Pancit Malabon, which had me on edge, as the 3pm delivery date turned out to be a 5pm delivery date (Ma: "Never mind, it's here and we eat dinner at 6pm anyway..."); a white choco version of a Black Forest cake from Red Ribbon (which was both YUM and a gift); Lapid's chicharon to go with the pancit; calamansi soda. *happy sigh* Nice end to a simple day.
Well, I've stayed up too late, as usual. May as well get to bed. But at least I'll have the chance to sleep in! *bounce*

Nothing like sitting down at the computer, knowing one's home is all settled for the night, and everyone where they should be - including the cats. *smile*
Today we distributed gifts to our maintenance crew, so it was a fairly busy morning, what with finding Mocha and all. Oh, and the new maid came back from her day off, so that was good, too.
Rewarded myself with a good long nap, and a shower upon waking up. After dinner, I fixed up the various bins in my bedroom, with all the Le Sport Sac knockoffs moved to one bin, and all the other bags in the other. The leather bag that Ma gave me, which is too small for daily usage, turned out to be the exact size for the netbook, its cords and peripherals. *fist pump* I can now stop wondering if I should get a netbook bag, yayz!
I also managed to tidy up the office space a wee bit. This is something approaching miraculous, considering how utterly lazy I have been feeling in the wake of holiday preparations. However, it is a good thing, as tidying helps a person discover how to re-purpose existing materials to work better. Goodness knows, I still have to decorate the Christmas boughs on the front windows before too long; misa de gallo has started, which means exactly nine days to get them all...sparkly? *grin*
What else. Oh! I *finally* downloaded all the pictures and videos from my camera, and will be sifting through them to see what's fit to post on the photoblog.
Tomorrow I will be out of the house. Mercury Santuario, Makati Central Post Office, Amber's Pancit, Market Market. Hitting the home stretch on celebrating the holidays - Ma had one of the fruit cocktail cans brought down today. *bounce*
