So this is what "tidy" looks like!
So the maintenance crew came by, and we are back to plain utilitarian CF lighting over the front porch and garage. (Does anyone use the term "carport" anymore?) Collected all the lights and decor in one box, and spent the better part of an hour in sorting and bagging stuff. Very CSI-like. As of this writing, the extra gifts are in Ma's stash cabinet and the lights/decor/gift wrappers/gift bags are in storage. Hooray!
This meant that stuff on the floor could take their assigned place on the daybed - the knitting stash and related items now have a permanent home, the baskets creating an informal sort of tall headboard. Not all stuff left the floor, but just moving the knitting-related stuff created lovely, lovely room to move in.
Having gotten rid of old magazines and consigned other things to charity/rubbish, meant that I emerged with an excess of organizing items. Quite a number have been put to use in organizing the innards of my supply cabinets - an act that also resulted in the consignment of many items to charity or the rubbish bin. ::bounce:: I still have, I think, more organizers than I need; however, as my billing statements and other papers still need to be sorted out (saving the best for last, as it were), I have no doubt that in the fullness of time, I will have enough to handle the work generated.
The water delivery people arrived just as the last bottle was nearing empty - and for the first time, I wrote a check for a complete refill of 10 containers. Normally we consume four or five in a week, but because of the long vacation, we managed to dig deep enough into the reserve containers to allow for a huge exchange.
Called the hospital. The refund check is ready for pick-up and eventual deposit. ::bounce::
I am tired. But it's a good tired, not an exhausted tired, and all is well. It's starting to rain; most likely the effect of the low pressure area hovering around our eastern shores.
I'm rather content with the way things have gone today. Granted, some stuff slipped through the cracks, but I should be able to take care of those things before the week ends.
Right now, key items on my pending list include:
- depositing checks
- phone pay the other credit card bill
- book a spa appointment for me and Ma so that we can use up that gift certificate expiring on January 14
- grocery shopping
I consider myself technologically equipped to face 2009, what with a new phone and all the other stuff I upgraded last year, in addition to the existing techno toys. Surely I have enough to feed my geek-gadget hunger for a good long while! ::grin::
Basically, all I need do in the coming days is to clear the stuff spread out on the daybed, sort and file my papers - which usually leads to a great deal of culling as I discover manuals for stuff I haven't got any more!
